After most states of the United States claimed to be extremely unhealthy with most of their population being overweight, fruits have claimed to be the healthiest snacks. Along with them being the most popular snack, farmers are growing excessive amounts of fruits as well. Americans have eaten almost ten to twenty-five times more fruit than junk food such as chocolate and potato chips. There are a few reasons to why fresh fruits popularity has grown. One would be that it's a common snack between all age groups ranging from babies and senior citizens. It is also a snack that could be eaten any time of the day, including a sweet dessert. Recently, Americans have also been realizing that they must take extra care of themselves, and the only healthy snack they could think of are fruits. The final reason is because fruit is not a snack to fill ones stomach for too long of a time, therefore they eat fruits more often.
Considering that Americans are being less and less aware of what they eat, this article gives some hope to the country. I personally did not know that fruits are the number one snack in America, but I am certainly glad that it is. Having people care about their health is very important in our society. This way, other people can get influenced and start eating healthy themselves. Even though this will not apply to all Americans, it is still a change for the good.
ReplyDeleteBeing one of the least healthiest nations in the world, obesity was becoming a major issue in the United States of America. It is surprising to hear this bit of information, as America has earned its reputation as a country who does not care what it eats. That is why states such as Mississippi and Alabama have an obesity rate of over thirty five percent of the population. Eating fruits and changing the daily diet is a huge key to overturn these numbers and make America one of the healthiest countries once more. I could not agree more with the fact that fruits are snacks that are enjoyable to people of all ages and that they do not fill one's stomach up for too long, and therefore are a viable option to eat. Instead of commercials promoting junk food, I suggest that they promote healthy foods such as fruits and protein bars in a creative manner to make it more appealing to the audience. That way, more of the United States population will set their mind to eating healthy in order to be in better physical shape.
ReplyDeleteObesity is not an issue that is taken lightly in America. Especially since more than half of our population is overweight, action needs to take place, starting from our diet. The amount of fruits and vegetables a person eats depends on age, weight, and other factors. However, factors do not change the benefits they give to our bodies. As a model for other nations in different areas, America should strive to be a model for health also. Although it is tragic that citizens have only just noticed they need to change their lifestyles, it is still a huge improvement.

ReplyDeleteIt is about time that our people have become aware of its overwhelming decline in population health and have decided to take the first step into aiding their own health. The popularity increase of fresh fruits might have probably came from the fact that people are realizing that they are overpaying for their health premiums due to declining health and also that they have loved ones who rely on them every day for the necessities that might not be provided if they were unable to contribute to the working force again. It is devastating to see that our country has acted in reaction because in reality it is quite late. The rest of the world foresaw the problem of obesity a while before we realized that it is one of the leading causes of death in our country. Sadly, one generation will have to suffer because poor health can be passed down. However it is not too late. The next step is to promote exercise because cutting down on unhealthy and potentially dangerous indulgences of food is not quite enough. It is the responsibility of the government and the individual citizens to work in correspondence to one another to end the spread of disease through the consumption of fat foods. America is one of the only countries in the world where people die because of too much food rather than famine.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with George that it is about time that America realizes what type of bad habits they have, and that it needs to be corrected. Junk food is horrible and something that people have a hard time cutting out of their lives. People cutting out junk and eating more fruits and vegetables is amazing, and a food that is healthy and nutritious. America definitely made a smarty choice in changing the things they eat and their foolish ways.
ReplyDeleteThis truly raises hope in our country! It is amazing news to hear that Americans are being cautious about what they eat. Fruits are extremely healthy for the human body and therefore people are encouraged to eat them in large amounts. Another great thing about fruits is that you can eat it whenever you want as a snack or even between meals. Fruits have all kinds of advantages and it is relieving that Americans have realized the greatness of them and are now eating them more and more.
ReplyDeleteAs a really old civilization, we Armenians have realized this a long time ago. We are always encouraged to eat fruits, I am sure we can all relate to this. It is fascinating that Americans have finally realized that the obesity is extremely bad and takes over probably more than half of Americas population. Fruits are very good for you and contain the natural sugars that you need and can possibly replace things like snicker bars for some individuals.
ReplyDeleteThis is truly amazing news! Till today, I had lost any hope I had of this nation growing healthier. It is relieving to see that there is great progress being made. My hope in the future of this nation's people is restored.
ReplyDeleteReading this made me believe that someday America will not be known as the "most overweight country", but for it's healthy eaters. I am glad to hear that people are finally putting away all the junk food and eating fruits instead. Not only will this help those who are truly eating healthier, but can also help persuade those who are still stuck in the habit of eating non-healthy foods, to eat more fruits. Children will not grow overweight and instead grow into the healthy bodies they are supposed to. Another positive part to this news, is that farmers can have better jobs now. I do not see a negative side to this because no one is getting hurt and instead are aiming to go in the right direction: to have better, healthier lives.
ReplyDeleteIt is extremely exciting to hear that the U.S.A population is finally turning to the healthy side of life. The number of obese people in the nation is way too high, and it was becoming a major issue. Even though the consumers are not at fault with the addictive ingredients put in many of the fast food meals, they should realize that their chances of obtaining a heart disease increases as they consume junk food. Fruits and vegetables should always be consumed by every person at least once a day because they are low in calories and have no fat. I suggest that each person eat fruits and oatmeal for breakfast and healthy salads or sandwiches throughout the day. If the amount of advertisements or inspiration on obtaining a better physical shape is increased then more Americans would turn to the healthy side.
ReplyDeleteThis was quite interesting. Obesity is a huge factor in America. From their infant age, a huge amount of Americans are overweight and grow to become obese. Obesity can lead from one consuming a great amount of "junk" food. Substituting this "junk" food with fruits is an amazing idea. Fruits are healthy and required for every single individual.
ReplyDeleteIn the United States of America, the existence of obesity and overall unhealthy eating habits have been never-ending. The society eats junk-foods every day. If action has been taking place to reverse the bad habits of society, then that should be promoted. Fruits are nutritious and provide energy when consumed. Hopefully the shift from unhealthy snacks to fruits can result in a gradual change to the over-consumption of junk foods. The less unhealthy snacks are sold in stores, the more effortless it will seem for society to make the essential change.
